Guest researcher Fasil Mulatu Gessesse

Fasil is a PhD Candidate at the University of Western Cape and will work on his doctoral research 'Towards an Effective Protection for Independent Migrant Children in Africa'.
From 1 October to 1 December 2017, Fasil Mulatu Gessesse will be hosted by the Law and Development Research Group. Fasil is a PhD Candidate at the University of Western Cape, Faculty of Law. His doctoral research is entitled ‘Towards an Effective Protection for Independent Migrant Children in Africa’. He obtained an LLM in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from University of Pretoria, Center for Human Rights. Currently, he holds a lecturer position at Addis Ababa University College of Law and Governance, Center for Human Rights. He is also the Child Rights Research Coordinator at the Center.
Previously, he worked with NGOs and intergovernmental organizations including a consultant for organizations like the World Bank, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Save the Children International. Fasil participated in the research group’s 2016 SUSTLAW programme as well as in the Summer Course Human Rights for Development.
