Filip Meysman wins annual KVAB price for Science Communication
22 September 2017
Filip Meysman (UAntwerp) received the award for the 'Curieuzeneuzen' project
Together with his colleague Huib Huyse (KULeuven), Filip Meysman (Global Change Ecology Centre, Research Group Ecosystem Management) invited the Antwerp citizens to analyse air quality in their streets themselves. Over 2000 citizens participated in the research and measured NO2 concentrations. NO2 is an important indicator for traffic related pollution. In May 2016, all participants installed a measurement setup for 4 weeks, at the front of their houses. Filip and Huib now received the KVAB annual price for Science Communication for this initiative. KVAB is the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts.
