3. Course contents *

This course intends to obtain a clearer understanding of typical features of our societies today by looking at transformations and transitions in the past.  From a long term perspective, this course focuses on important social, political and economic transitions during the period 1750-2000 that have shaped our society today. From a broader European perspective, it focuses on the history of Belgium and Belgian society.

This course is complemented by a reader composed of articles on specific topics of Belgian history in Dutch. These articles will be read and studied by the participants and will be discussed during the main course.
