3. Course contents *

This course intends to obtain a clearer understanding of typical features of our societies today by looking at transformations and transitions in the past.  From a long term perspective, this course focuses on important social, political and economic transitions during the period 1750-2000 that have shaped our society today. From a broader European perspective, it focuses on the history of Belgium and Belgian society.

This course is complemented by a reader composed of articles on specific topics of Belgian history in Dutch or English.These articles will be read and studied by the students and will be discussed during the main course.
