The marine environment is a fascinating world. In this course general physical characteristics of the marine environment (currents, light, salinity, temperature, pressure, pH...) will be discussed, as well as marine organisms and their adaptations to the marine environment. Tidal zones, and special ecosystems such as the mangrove, coral reefs, the Sargasso, deepseas and polar seas get special attention. Students choose a specific topic to study in depth.
