3. Course contents *

This course contains a common trunk present in the courses ‘world views’ of all other faculties of the University of Antwerp.

This common trunk deals with topicssuch as:

1. A survey of world views on global, European and Belgian level, with emphasis on increased diversity, secularization and depillarization.

2. A reflection on religion and democracy: philosophical and historical background of the liberal constitutional state, governmental neutrality, freedom of religion and tolerance.

3. A reflection on the relation and tensions between world views and science: historical background and discussion of different views in the current debate.

Next to these common themes, this course will deal with topics related to the students’ special field of study.
