The concept of 'time value of money' and the probality of death and survival on a single life  form the introduction to this course. Some important basic actuarial functions are defined and are illustated for the Belgium insurance market. The calculation of the price of insurance contracts is explained. The long term of an insurance contract forces the introduction of a specific follow-up by the so-called 'net reserves'. A second part of the course pays attention to the contineous and stochastic models, which explain the calculations presented in the deterministic model. Unit-Linked life insurance products are the final topic of this course.
