3. Course contents *

  • The base of the DNA technology, especially the advanced applications thereof, such as, for example, pulsed-field electrophoresis and various forms of real-time PCR
  • Enzymes that are used to manipulate DNA
  • Basic DNA manipulation techniques. Cloning vectors and strategies in different model organisms, gene cloning, generation and use of genomic and cDNA libraries. Mutagenesis and protein engineering, recent technological developments in the field of sequence analysis
  • Genetic manipulation techniques in bacteria, yeast, plants and animals, including gene transfer techniques
  •  Genomic analysis techniques with a focus on genome sequencing techniques, comparative genomics, transcriptome and proteome analysis
  •  Transposons and their role in DNA technology
  •  Biotechnological applications with examples from medicine and agriculture
