3. Course contents *




The course provides the basic knowledge on environmental Chemistry, sustainability and chemical safety. Specific attention is given on developing the correct attitude for a chemist with respect to environmental concern, sustainability and safety.
 
Partim Environmental Chemistry:

Basic principles of environmental chemistry are discussed. Focus is put on inorganic pollutants such as SOx, NOx, ozon and particulate matter 
A short introduction on water pollutants is given.
Attention is given to the impact of society

Partim Chemical safety:

-  Principles and ethics of chemical safety
- Chemical and condition risks and hazards in function of the environment
- Safety information sources and their interpretation and utilization
-  Preventing and minimizing risks
- Risk analysis and incident controle

Partim sustainability:

The various principles of sustainability are discussed. Also here, the impact of the environment on sustainability and its impact is emphasised.
