3. Course contents *

Following the motivation and definition of the objectives of experimental research in Physics, a number of general aspects are treated such as the general design of an experiment, sources of errors, signal treatment and improvement of signal to noise ratio, collection, transmission, storage and further processing of data. Then, a number of techniques are discussed that are often employed  in experiments, in particular vacuum and low temperature techniques. Why are these techniques useful and necessary? Which are the instruments to be used and which are the specifications to be obeyed for a specific application?
