3. Course contents *

What does Chemistry have in common with crime scene investigation? More than you think! The course "Forensic Chemistry"deals with the basic principles of criminalistics and the role of the forensic chemist. Different forensic disciplines, cases,  sample preparation techniques,screening methods, quantitative analysies and the interpretation of results are discussed. The importance of traceability and quality assurance (ISO 17025) are a recurring theme during the course.The following topics are discussed:drugs of abuse, foreisic toxicology, arson investigation, fiber analysis,guns shot residue analysis and paint analysis. Several chromatographic and spectroscopic methods will be discussed.
