The Integrated Practical Land and Forest Management combines the theoretical and practical aspects of the subjects Forestry, Hydrology-Climatology, Geographic Information Systems and Soil processes through small research projects in field conditions. After an introductory lesson, you will collect data under guidance and in group, in a Flemish forest, within the framework of one or more explicit research or management questions. Information about hydrology, soil, meteorology and geography will be collected through forest inventory (trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants), monitoring wells, soil description, meteorological, transpiration and interception measurements in vegetation, geographic measurements and sampling for chemical analyzes. Then, you will enter the collected data, check them, complete them with existing data and analyze them statistically and spatially explicit. You will interpret the results and maps, and draw your conclusions. You will exchange data and results with other students in the same specialization. Finally, you will write and present a short report in group. We hereby challenge you to make your research publicized in an original and creative way.
