3. Course contents *

The students learn to do research in a lab environment. Topics are Physiology, Celbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. We focuss on biological questioning, planning and performing experiments as well as the interpretation of the data obtained. Techniques used are: in vitro culturing, microscopy, molecular biological techniques, reporter-gene expression, extraction, precipitation, filtration, preparative chromatography, isolation and separation of protein complexes under native conditions, mass spectrometric identification of biomolecules. the student scan select one of the following projects:

1.  Effects of global change on growth and stress respons in planta

2.  Molecular mechanisms of stress:applications in environmental toxicology

3.  Molecular and cellular aspects of leaf growth in Arabidopsis thaliana

4. Auxin-flavonoid cross talk in plant UV-B acclimation and tolerance

5. Endogenous toxins in potato under different household treatments and storage conditions
