At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

Students gain insight in the specificity of the question concerning the meaning of life and are able to elaborate on several philosophical perspectives on that topic.
Students understand how the search for meaning relates to science and knowledge.
Students understand how religions/atheism try to answer the search for meaning.
Students see possibilities for interaction between different world views and cultures. They understand how participation in such a dialogue would be possible (active pluralism).
Students understand how world views, religion, meaning in life and culture interact.
Students can reflect on the relation between secular and religious answers to the search for meaning.
