3. Course contents *

Lectures: 

Part 1: Focus on structure and evolution of stars - the physics of stars (capita selecta)

           - possibly one class will be given by a guest lecturer (in English)

Part 2: Analysis of astronomical data (time series) - Fourier analysis

Part 3: Selected topics in current astrophysics

Projects:

1. You obtain data of a variable star to be analyzed and discussed. You write a short report on this.

2. Presentation: choose a topic within state-of-the-art astrophysics and present an overview in a ~5-page document.  Present it to your fellow students (10-15 minute presentation, 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion)

 

These projects are carried out individually or in groups of two.  This will be discussed in the first classes.
