At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

Some lectures will either be presented in English, or make use of slides in English: the student is expected to have no difficulties in following these lectures. Some papers, to be read in preparation of the presentation, may also be in English.

specific prerequisites for this course
This course is intended for students in a final year "bachelor in biology" who have successfully followed the "Mathematics" course (or an equivalent thereof, in case students come from an alternative ). It is of uttermost importance that students following this course have studied the following subjects (and, of course, obtained a credit)
* calculus in 1 real variable (derivatives - integrals - Taylor series)
* differential equations
* linear algebra (systems of equations - diagonalisation of matrices)
