3. Course contents *

In this course various questions will be answered, starting with how do communities function, and what is the role of parasitism and mutualism? How do humans interact with natural populations? How do landscapes influence communities? We furthermore explore how ecosystems function. Themes that will be treated are stability, productivity and nutrient cycles at ecosystem scale. What are the major patterns of biodiversity on earth and what are the consequences of biodiversity loss? What is Global Change? How do biogeochemical cycles at global scale work? Also, how do humans disturb biogeochemical cycles? And finally we try to answer how ecology and energy are linked (food and society).
