At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

- The student knows the origin of magnetism
- The student knows the basic laws of magnetism and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of counter current and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of hydrodynamics and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of geometric optica and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of wave-theory and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of acoustics and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of physical optics and can apply them
- The student knows the basic laws of atom physics and can apply them
- The student knows how radiation interacts with substances

The course contains:

- Biomagnetism

- Hydrodynamics

- Wave theory

- Geometrical and physical optics

- Polarisation of light and applications with concentration determinations

- Microscopes with Abbe’s theory

- Modern physics with photon, Compton Effect,…

- Radio activity and interaction of radiation with substances.

In the practical course, experiments are carried out, analyzed and discussed. The students are encouraged to resolve physical problems at home which are later on discussed during exercise sessions.

The course has an international dimension.
