3. Course contents *

Collection management

Attention is paid to the differences in collections of heritage objects and the methods and techniques of collection management at collective level, which include the various registration and inventory systems.
The student learns about polycies of  museums with the management of heritage collections, quality promotion, collection, or collective rejection and the survey within collections
Art crime and restitution issues are also discussed.


The student is introduced to a diversity of exhibition models (permanent, temporary, ...), divers scenographic and presentation models, the use of a appropriate exhibition peadagogics, etc. During this introduction the new challenges for the museum at the beginning of the 21st century work as reference frame: financial insecurity, changing expectations, the difficulties concerning the engagement of new audiences, the challenges of the World Wide Web, developing sustainable relations with the museum user, formal learning versus informal learning, the museum as a catalyst for dialogue and civil engagment...
