3. Course contents *

The course consists of two main components: the tissue and specialized tissue and organ systems

By examining tissues, form and function of cells and extra cellular matrix components of the different tissues are  examined. Key functional, cell biological aspects of celltypes in these tissues are the subject of discussion at the ultra-structural level:

- The covering and  gland epithelium;
- The connective tissue and bone;
- The muscle and
- The nervous tissue;

During the lectures concerning the specialized tissues and organ systems, we discuss:

- Blood and blood formation
- Sensory systems
- The skin and its derivatives

During the practical sessions microscopic preparations of various tissues and organs are studied.
The acquisition of the knowledge of electron microscopic images is the result of independent study. There is also a minor literature assignment.
