3. Course contents *

This trainings course ‘Clinical skills’ is designed to build a bridge between knowledge, skills and professional behaviour of the future doctor starting in the first year of medical school emphasising on exercising practical skills in small groups and during internships.
The Clinical Line 1 contains the teaching of basic skills in the communication (such as active listening) and medical-technical skills (vital parameters, oxygen and inhalation therapy, techniques of bandage, hygienic care and sterility, use of syringes and needles, resuscitation skills, first aid) that are necessary for a fulfilling internship on a nursery ward. During the internship a student will be assigned to a nurse assisting the student during the care of the patients and other nursing tasks.
This internship enables the student, during the first year of medical school, to experience the organisation and management  of a nursing ward and the way of continuity of care is provided in an hospital environment.
Practical exams of skills: Objective Structured Clinical Examination – in case of an unsatisfactory grade for 2 of the 8 stations, it is possible to redo the exam in the Easter period, if still unsatisfactoriyly no entrance to the clerckships are allowed and no credit will be achieved for this trainings course.
Other: internship evaluation form – in case of unsatisfactory grade no credit will be achieved for this trainings course
