This course consists of the following exams: Material and Construction1, Ergonomics, Mathematics for designers, Form and Structure, History timeline 2.

Exam Material and Construction (teacher Philip Theys)

The students are accustomed to/ made familiar with the specific identities, structure and detailling of simple pieces of furniture and objects.  The knowledege of materials, principles of construction and their applications in the field of sheet material (and partly also solid wood) is transmitted through examples.  We stimulate the critical sense of observation and analysis of these simple pieces of furniture and their construction; the main goal is to be able to draw a simple piece of furniture/ an object, composed of wooden sheet material (and if needed with parts made out of solid wood).

Exam Ergonomics (teacher Philip Theys)

Further on, we examine in an empiric way, the ergonomic data of spaces, functions related with living and the human being itself.  The results of this examination are documented and bundled in a synoptic manner.
