3. Course contents *

Part psychiatry
The course starts with an introduction into the domain of the cognitive and affective neurosciences. First a historical context will be given  in order  to explain how the combination of developments in medicine and psychology led to a relatively new research domain. Then the the functional framework will described that can be used  for  explaining  different cognitive functions  and the  brain structures involved. Several examples of neurological and psychiatric disorders, that show specific deviant behaviour, will be given to clarify this framework. Further attention will be given to memory, action planning, attention, emotion and social cognition.
