If the colour codes change during the academic year to orange or red, modifications are possible, for example to the teaching and evaluation methods.

At the start of this course the student should have acquired the following competences:

an active knowledge of

- competences corresponding the final attainment level of secondary school

an active knowledge of

- Dutch

- French
- English

- general knowledge of the use of a PC and the Internet

- The student is able to formulate the basic hypotheses, principles and concepts (BE3/BK-K3). For example: The student can formulate "lateral force".
- The student is able to identify the most common units, can explain the relationships between them and can demonstrate their validity in a conclusive evidence. (BE2/BK-K3). For example: The student is able to identify units as tractive power in a (craftmanship)bar, bending moment and linear moment of inertia.
- In a simple, numeric question, the student is able to determine the units and can use the relationships correctly. He/she can calculate the requested correct without using help. (BE2/BK-K3) For example: For a simple formulated numeric question, but with excessive data, the student can understand that the question treats a case of zero bar, and the student is able to finish this calculation successful, without any use of aid.
- The student is able to analyse questions (that relate to practice) in terms of the principles, concepts, units and formulae that were given during the lectures. (BE3/BK-K3)
- After an analysis and after choosing the right solution method, the student is able to solve questions that relate to practice. The student is able to calculate the necessary data correctly. The student may use a calculator for this. (BE3/BK-K3).
- The student's written communication during the exercise sessions and during the exam is meticulous and structured.(BT1)

Theory:

- General principles
- Powervectors
- Balance of a pointmass
- Net force of a power system
- Balance of a rigid body
- Analysis of constructions
- Internal forces

The exercisis made during the exercises sessions will treat the above-mentioned themes.
