3. Course contents *

During several theoretical lectures (COVID19 remark: on-line), the basic requirements of scientific writing will be explained in general (i.e. structure, style and the correct use of references) and of the scientific essay in particular.

After the theoretical lectures, students will use the knowledge and information to write their proper scientific essay on a building or spatial design (i.e. application assignment). It concerns a group assignment in which students choose a building or spatial design in view of their study trip (COVID19 remark: when the study trips can not take place, the teaching staff will suggest interesting buildings or spatial designs in the countries where the study trips relate to).

The teaching staff will give the necessary instructions and (reading and writing)formats to be used (see also BB). Additionally they will organize a few feedback sessions (4 to 5)  in which teachers and students evaluate and comment on their own essay as well as on the essay of their fellow students (COVID19 remark: according to the situation these will take place on-line, digitally and/or physically). For each feedback session the teaching staff will also make a plenary report (see also BB).

Further information on the practical organization and content of SoAR (theoretical lectures and writing assignment) will be given during the lectures.

The written essay will be the subject of the evaluation of SoAR (COVID19 remark: according to the situation, an additional oral presentation and debate will take place, or else the evaluation will remain limited to the written paper itself. More information will be given at the start of the course) .
