This project starts from a selection of previous design exercices.
The project starts by making analysis , with the aim to be able to optimize the mechanical and fysical principles and the usability.
Based on this analysis, the students create several new design proposals and verify them by bread boarding and calculations. The design proposal with the most potential is analyzed by simulation software and optimized through an iterative process. The final design has to be detailed and translated into technical drawings of all pieces.
- Product Ergonomics applicable:
The student prepare an ergonomic analysis.
- Mechanical aspects of products:
College concerning to tolerance management, European Guidelines, international standards and marks, and Design for Assembly. As exercise, the student checks his design proposal to the Machinery Directive.
The semester 3D Modelling is divided into two parts:
- The modeling of a dinosaur, whereby the knowledge of double curved faces will be lead on to a much higher level and there will be more emphasis on complexity and quality of the surfaces.
- In the second part of the semester, a styling exercise is provided using solid and surface modeling , combined with part and assembly configurations and top-down modeling.
Furthermore, the level of the photo -realistic renderings is further improved.
These skills (in conjunction with the technical aspects of manufacturing techniques) will be used in all design projects.
