In this course the students are introduced for a first time, within the theme of "global warming", to scientific research and the importance of independent and reliable research. In a project-based way, they learn a number of basic academic skills:
- the use of bibliographic databases and a limited literature review;
- basic principles of descriptive statistics, error theory, and application to the measurement results of two simple experiments: one within one's own discipline, and one within another discipline;
- an information session on academic Dutch and how to give a good presentation.
