3. Course contents *

In the first part of the course “Locomotor System”, the semiology of rheumatic and orthopaedic diseases and of imaging and technical examinations will be discussed.
Theoretical lessons are linked with hands-on sessions of examination of the normal locomotor system. As clinical illustration postural disorders (e.g. scoliosis) of the spine are given.
Furthermore, the physiology of the normal joints will be covered, as well as the pathophysiology of the inflammatory joint (rheumatoid arthritis) and the degenerative joint (osteoarthrosis). As clinical examples crystal arthropathies and polyarticular osteoarthritis will be given.
Normal bone physiology will be discussed, followed by the clinical pathology of osteoporosis.
Muscle physiology and afterwards clinical pathology (tendinopathies) are described.
