3. Course contents *

The course teaches the molecular genetic basis of bacteria and yeast and provides a broad overview of how this knowledge is used in laboratories and industry. Topics from the course are: composition and function of bacterial and yeast genomes, replication, conjugation, transformation, transposition, molecular basis of recombination, bacterial plasmids, bacteriophages. Also throughout the course standard genetic analysis tools are used and elaborated upon such as: complementation analysis, genetic crosses, recombination analysis.
