7.1 Required reading
The lecturer provides a self composed sylabus that has to be studied in order to be successful at the exam. The syllabus consists of powerpoint presentations that are available via Blackboard in digital form. The syllabus is based mainly on 2 handbooks (see Optional reading) that can be valuable for the courses taught in the subsequent years.
7.2 Optional reading
The following study material can be studied voluntarily :
1) Veterinary Immunology, 9th edition, by Tizard. Elsevier. This is the only veterinary handbook. It contains a well understandable text supported by clear figures.
2) Janeway's Immunobiology, Ninth Edition, Kenneth Murphy, Casey Weaver. Garland Science. This handbook is very exhaustive and also focuses on the molecular mechanisms that play a role in the immune system. It can be highly recommended for its many clarifying figures. However, it is a very detailed and students sometimes get overwhelmed by the amount of information.
