Solid knowledge of general chemistry, with emphasis on physicochemistry,
organic chemistry 1 and 2
It is the aim of this course to link the obtained basic organic chemistry insight to the courses of medicinal chemistry and farmacognosy of the following year.
Considering that a large amount of currently used drugs and biologically active products are of heterocylic structure, we will investigate the reactivity discussion and to a lesser extent the synthesis methods applicable to these molecules containing nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur as heterocyclic element. Furthermore this insight is integrated with multistep synthesis of selected organic compounds.
Studyguide (in Dutch) in two parts available from the university reprographical services.
