3. Course contents *

Basic principles of biochemistry are illustrated by examples from the pharmacuetical practise.

This course profides foundations for Biochemistry II: metabolism

The most important biological macromolecules and their building blocks are introduced: amino acids and proteins, carbohydrates and polysaccharides, nucleotides and nucleic acids, lipids.

The relationship between structure and function is illustrated for fiber proteins, hemoglobin, cantractile proteins and enzymes.
