3. Course contents *

This course builds on the basics introduced in Biochemistry I: structure and catalysis.

In the first part we address the biological membrane, transport through the biological membrane and receptor mediated signaling. This is followed by elements of bioenergetics and biochemical reaction types.

The second part specifically addresses the metabolic pathways of carbohydrates, fatty acids and nitrogen containing molecules.

In a final part we examine the principles of molecular biology inderlying the flow of information in the cell.

This course also highlights the biochemical systems that are targetted by common medicinal drugs and food supplements.
