3. Course contents *

The 'theoretical' course documents early embryonic development and organogenesis. The development of mammals, including lab animals, is discussed from a comparative point of view and the course covers the following topics: - reproduction, cleavage, gastrulation - primitive embryo - protection and nutrition of the embryo - development of the different organ systems. During the practicals the student: - dissects different placenta types in order to gain knowlegde of the building plan, in addition to dissection skills  - gains insight in experimental embryology.
