3. Course contents *

Theory

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics: Enzymes, receptors and nucleic acids as drug targets, interactions between drugs and their targets, relation between the chemical structure and the pharmacokinetic properties.

Drug discovery and development: Target identification and validation, hit and lead identification, lead optimization (design, SAR, QSAR, improvement of pharmacokinetic properties), drug development (preclinical and clinical trials, chemical and pharmaceutical development)

Practice sessions

Structure recognition of drugs: functional groups, acid-base properties, electronic and steric properties, ADMET properties
