- Knowledge of the principles and methods employed to formulate stable and active dosage forms ((semi)liquid dosage forms, transdermal, inhalandia) (and introduction to Powders)
- Insight in the various aspects concerning formulation, compounding and biopharmaceutical properties of dosage forms discussed (Bio-availability)
- Knowledge of Eur. Ph. and legal requirements about quality, packaging, storage and labeling of dosage forms discussed
Pharmaceutics encompass the study of the physical principles of formulation, compounding techniques, methods of manufacture (GMP, GPP), stability and quality control of dosage forms.
Biopharmacy is concerned with the relationship between the formulation or choice of excipients and method of manufacture of the dosage form and the bioavailability or extent to which the therapeutic constituent is available for absorption.
The first part of the course is devoted to liquid dosage forms: oral solutions, syrups, cutaneous, oromucosal, nasal, eye and ear preparations.
