3. Course contents *

Firstly, the terminology and principles about forces, energy, light and sound are introduced. Next, the four material groups, i.e. metals, polymers, ceramics and composites are treated in relation to their chemical, physical, mechanical and production properties. The principles of sustainable development and the relation between social economic development on the one hand and poverty and environment on the other hand are introduced. Then, the topics of air, water, soil pollution and loss of biodiversity are explained. Finally, for each material group, some of the materials that we encounter daily are discussed in terms of composition, properties and applications.
