3. Course contents *

Cardiovascular system: Blood and haemostasis, the heart as  a muscle and a circulation pump; hemodynamics and micro-circulation in the vascular system; control of the peripheral circulation, integration of cardiac output and peripheral vasculature in control of blood pressure and tissue perfusion.

 

Respiratory system: functional anatomy and mechanics of breathing, ventilation and perfusion; transport of O2 and CO2; regulation of ventilation.

Renal: fundamental principles of renal filtration, secretion and absorption; glomerular and tubular function; regulation of osmolarity and volume of body fluids; regulation of electrolytes and acid-base balance.

 

Gastrointestinal system: mechanisms and regulation of motility, secretions, digestion and absorption

 

Endocrinology system: Fundamental principles of (neuro)endocrine regulation and homeostasis; specific function of hypothalamo-pituitary axis, thyroid gland, adrenal gland and endocrine pancreas.
