3. Course contents *

Partim I: Animal Hygiene

The subpart "general Hygiene" discusses the various principles that form the basis for maximal assurance of animal health at the level of the farm, which translates into better zootechnical results. Animal hygiene therefore contains economical, ethical, scientific and practical aspects of animal farming into which the veterinarian has an improtant advising role.
1. living environment of the animal (stable climate, drinking water)
2. hygiene and disease preventions (introduction of disease, quarantine, disinfection, animal transport)
3. pest control (rodents, flies)

In the subpart "specific hygiene", only these animal species are discussed that are subject to intensive industrialized farming systems.  In the frame of this, several visit to farms and related businesses are planned (destruction company, milking farm, pig farm, hatchery).
