3. Course contents *

This course examines the place of history and heritage in the public sphere and in commercial products. The analysis concentrates on the translation of scientific insights into products for a larger audience like vulgarizing books, exhibitions, documentaries and websites. In addition, the interaction with and experience of the past in the media, tourism, culture and daily life in a more general sense, is reflected upon, including in the light of the difference between historical research, on the one hand, and heritage and collective memory, on the other.
