3. Course contents *

The following eras are studied:
Part 1: Middle Ages. Survey of  the literature in the Low Countries from the beginning until the fifteenth century. Special attention is paid to Hendrik van Veldeke and the literature in the "Maasland", the  Charlemagne-, Artur- and animal  epic, mysticism (Beatrijs van Nazareth, Hadewijch and Ruusbroec), the Modern Devotion and the Gruuthuse-manuscript.
