3. Course contents *

This course learns students to understand the mechanisms of academic thinking, academic writing and academic texts, in order to help them to successfully complete writing assignments in their university education. We work in small steps toward an academic paper, along the lines of the writing process: orienting on the task, writing a text plan, writing a syntesis of the research literature, formulating a research question, ... The end product of this course is an academic paper on linguistics or literature, written according to the rules of the art. Spoken proficiency in scientific communication is trained as well: students present their research for a non-expert audience.
