This general course in BA3 is organized in tandem with General Linguistics 2. Students in the Bachelor program in Linguistics and Literature are compelled to choose one of these two courses.
In 2016-2017, the course will be devoted entirely to the fields of gender and sexuality theory. Our attention will be directed at both the historical developments and the key concepts in these fields from the 20th century onwards. The relevance of theories for literary studies will be illustrated all the time on the basis of a variety of texts. Students will get ample opportunity to practice the methodological toolkits.
Attention: the precise organization of this course is still conditional. Exceptionally, this new course will be taught entirely by an Adjunct Professor, who will be replacing Prof. Eeckhout during his research leave in 2016-17. Prof. Herman will not yet be involved with this course in 2016-17.
