3. Course contents *

This general course in BA3 is organized in tandem with General Linguistics 2. Students in the Bachelor program in Linguistics and Literature are compelled to choose one of these two courses.

In 2020-2021, the course will be devoted to narrative theory and to the fields of gender and sexuality theory. In the first half (narrative theory), structuralist narratology will provide a toolkit for the analysis of any (literary) narrative. The second half of the course consists of weekly lectures and in-class discussions of  theoretical, historical and literary texts about
gender and sexuality. Students are expected to prepare the readings in anticipation of our meetings. Weekly questions and in-class assignments will help students fine-tune their critical close readings skills.
