3. Course contents *

The English Proficiency 5 course targets advanced English proficiency skills. It pays particular attention to academic reading, academic writing and oral proficiency. The course includes two main modules:

  • Module 1: Content and Language Integrated Language Learning (CLIL): Focus on Second Language Acquisition studies (SLA)
    • Students are required to read a set list of academic papers written in the field of Second Language Acquisition
    • The articles will be dissected during the face-to-face lectures and key SLA concepts will be presented
    • Students will be asked to write a short literature review on one of the SLA topics covered in the lectures
  • Module 2: Oral proficiency modules:
    • This modules aims to train student speaking skills in smaller student groups.
    • The module is largely project-based, with students working in groups on two main projects
