This course focusses on the process of adaptation taking place between literature and film. During the lectures we discuss the theoretical principles that help us to understand what happens when narrative and esthetical material is transfered from one medium to another. In order to achieve this, we use semiotic and media-theoretical approaches. These do not so much consider the loss of information as explore the wide variety of contexts that arise. A few case studies will take media crossover into account. In contrast to the first semester this module centers on the adaptation of novels, short stories, myths and other film-genres.
