3. Course contents *

The course Dutch proficiency 3 “Journalistic writing” offers students strategies to learn how to write clear, accessible and appealing texts. It provides a step-by-step description of the writing process: to gather information, to write a first draft, to structure information, to formulate and finish a text. Attention is given to task description, focus and news value, and audience design. Characteristics of the most important journalistic genres are discussed, e.g. news articles and opinion pieces, interviews and background stories. The endproduct of this course is a portfolio featuring journalistic texts in a number of different genres. Oral proficiency is trained during radio presentations and interviews.
