3. Course contents *

In the linguistic part of the course, a series of topics will be treated  that are closely related to topics discussed in the language proficiency component that cause difficulties in writing texts, such as theme-rheme structure, differences in meaning and use of déterminants indéfinis (certains, plusieurs, quelques, chaque / tout), of concession markers (cependant, néanmoins, pourtant, bien que, encore que), reformulation markers (c’est-à-dire, à savoir, notamment), causal markers (puisque, car, parce que, étant donné, comme), and all other kinds of synonyms (pour, afin de, and tant que, comme). For item or pair of items will be examined how the problem is addressed in a number of dictionaries or grammars, will a corpus be compiled and studied and will relevant references in the linguistic literature be searched for. The teacher and students will report on this.
