3. Course contents *

The course starts with a general introduction to the objective and the general operation of a care system, followed by specific management systems for environment, safety and quality.

The Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology is a basis for the general care system. An integrated management system includes three subsystems:

In the first section Safety,  the legislation will be treated. Then, the specific regulations (Belgian) on temporary or mobile construction sites are discussed, interspersed with practical examples. For a future project leader, safety and environmental protection are a must. One step further is the VCA checklist and OHSAS.

In the second part, environmental care is discussed, along with the applicable legislation. Environmental management systems are also operational in construction companies such as the key management system ISO14001.

Quality assurance is discussed in part three, as exemplified by the ISO9000 series.

Three lectures concerning BIM (Buiding Information Modeling) will be organized in such a way the student can explore more about this newest technology in future courses.
