During thisseminar we will discuss the "process" of awarding a literary prize to a specific author for a specific title in his oeuvre.

We think critically about how and why certain genres, authors and subjects are well-praised, at a given moment, and about the importance of the jury and its composition. We illustrate mechanics through concrete cases and we prefer to follow the media in its "prize race". The Goncourt and the Pullitzer are two classic examples, but no doubt others will come across our path.
